I have the impression that A J Budrys kept “stef” alive long after everyone else had stopped using it—and yup, there he is, with two different cites in your entry.

I admit that “stefnal” is still a useful adjective from time to time, whenever “science-fictional” seems too polysyllabic.

I use SFnal, but only in casual writing. (There's an entry for that too: sfdictionary.com/view/227/sfnal)
