The old joke about asking for directions and getting the answer "well, I wouldn't start from here" pops into my head when I think about just about anything going on these days.
Currently reading a non-fiction book written in 2022, hitting a little bit about people chatting fairly affably to one another on Twitter about some subject or other, and, with a pang of nostalgia, thinking that seems a saner place to start from, and that the author has no idea what’s coming.
