right. the president could order troops to suppress protesters using live fire and the supreme court would extend that absolute immunity

That is exactly the case. Immunity for the president plus unreviewable pardon power means immunity for anyone in Trump’s favor. It is not hyperbole to say that decision will lead to paramilitary death squads. The only limit of the fascist dream is their imagination.
