Ok but who are everybody’s unproblematic faves? Are there any? Robert Frost, as far as I know. Probably Hopkins too. I think Frost had some dark secrets Dark secrets as in depression and family problems? Or like Nazi sympathizing? Family I think. Maybe just tragedy. I shouldn’t speculate Realized I’d uncharacteristically left out Dr Johnson and Auden Auden not without his sordid stuff but also deliberately kept quiet about many good works which I think tips him into the “good one” column a tweet that still lives in my head:
