Offshore wind on the wet coast especially could be an energy game changer and an economic windfall for small port cities like Coos Bay in Oregon.

I wonder if they could do that; my understanding is that a) you need some huge-ass port facilities to assemble the turbines and b) the port needs to be reasonably close to the wind farm. So Coos Bay, Eureka etc. might be too small and LA or Seattle too far. If they can solve that it would be great.

I attended a conference sponsored by the construction trade unions about this a couple years back in Portland, and Coos Bay was the option for Oregon. There would be a lot of infrastructure investment but it's more economically feasible to locate there than further from the turbine sites.
