I had this... weird childhood. They had no concept of ADHD, and seemed to assume that if you nearly die/lose a limb in a horrible accident, you're perfectly emotionally unscarred. Okay, so that leaves me with being told I was smart or stupid, right? But the same adults frequently told me BOTH.

Adults are just children but with greater autonomy. Silly people thinking mere age imparts wisdom. Not if you never get out of the cave, you jackasses.
