The thing that pops into my memory here is that during the first few days / weeks of the Yassmin Abdel-Magied outrage, a huge swathe of white centre-left "progressives" either quietly condemned her or said nothing at all. It was only when they had safety in numbers that they supported her.
They know they're losingeverythingisfine.beehiiv.com Why Labor and the media are brutalising Fatima Payman

It was universally other young people of colour - often in unsafe positions and with a lot to lose - who just immediately stuck up for her. All the white progressives staying silent about Payman will retroactively claim to have always supported her, when it's safe for them to do so.

Man.....Van Badham's partner just flat out calling her a "rat" is something to behold.

It’s one of those words like “Tory” that tells you lots about the internal culture of Labor

I am mystified that any lab MP would be so utterly stupid as to now question section 44 and admit they didnt get a constitutional ruling themselves on the matter. Utterly stupid own goal. And utterly stupid move to keep pushing her further and further away. Cant blame her at all watching the fallout

Burning your bridges in politics is just plain stupid unless they have done something reprehensible and you HAVE to distance. This woman just made a stand on an issue many are very concerned about. I say that says dedication to your personal beliefs over party line. Should have allowed conscience V
