I just saw the times and I came THIRTY FIFTH out of 461 people who finished the walk! Almost two hours behind the first finisher (WT actual F) but still. (8.58 inc half hour break, since you ask.)

I just checked my total. Thank you all so much. Between this and my RL sponsorship, I've raised £2000 for the Alzheimer's Society, and that makes the remarkable amount of pain in my glutes and deep six muscles worthwhile.

It's literally going to rain all day. 26 mile walk. Oof.

you know what, I'm giving up the pretence of work. Going to pack for the walk and meander down to the unexpectedly Lib Dem Cotswolds.

Tories and Reform will complain relentlessly that their votes to seats ratio is so bad, and Labour's majority is wildly disproportionate. Worth remembering this is the system we've always had, which we voted (like morons) to keep a few years ago, and it's suited the right just fine till now.

Stop me if I'm wrong, but Poole is the last available seat for the Tories, yes? I'd just really prefer them to stick on 119, not get the round number. It's...messier.

So recounts in Inverness, Poole and S Basildon / E Thurrock, plus two Scottish constituences to close up.

Welp, looks like an MP who is going to have to listen VERY HARD to his constituents.

I love it when everyone's been up so long you start getting this kind of punch-drunk reporting.

Bunch of people whose parties have been in power for years under FPTP suddenly discovering an urgent need for electoral reform.

Worth remembering, for the next five years, that the Tory party rules ASSUME they'll have a large number of sitting MPs. e.g. to automatically start a leadership context only 15% of tory MPs have to put in letters. 15% of 130ish seats is... not a lot.
