Oh I can actually answer this! The painter had done a bunch of portraits of Truth in her well, including this one a year before your painting. It’s called Truth Lies In a Well After Being Killed By Liar and Actors. Truth is shaming mankind for its sins lol

When I was a kid we would spend our summers on this island near my house. We knew not to float down the eastern side of the island because there was a tractor submerged somewhere around there and it only took hitting it with your foot a couple times before you go “I’m not swimming over there.”
