I don't know if you ever watched the Highlander series but the Watchers all had some aggressively 90s coats and they look just like that dude on the bottom who's looking to the right.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but it sounds like they actually need to be on the same network or connected by Bluetooth (serious, easy to mitigate), and it's not enough to just have proximity (serious, impossible to mitigate).
