This was my second year as a reader for Wigleaf's Top 50. Even though I'm not currently writing flash, I love getting to spend the year doing a deep dive into a few journals, learning from other writers & reading beautiful stories. Congrats to the Top 50 & the Longlist writers.

My friend secretly told the waiter about my award nomination & out came this delicious dessert. Writer friends know how to celebrate. I blew out the candle to so happy Shirley Jackson nomination to me.

Love this book! Pics from Saturday storytime at Lofty Pigeon Books with Joanna McClintick reading her book 'Twas the Night Before Pride. Had a little group repping my son's kindergarten class to support Joanna. Happy Pride Month 🌈

OH MY GOD. “In fact, hair relaxers marketed to children in the United States have been found to contain the highest levels of five of the chemicals prohibited in the European Union.”

Going to Readercon for the first time & not sure what to expect. The only other conference for writers I've been to before is AWP & I usually have to eventually hide out from the overwhelm of people...I'm assuming this won't be the same?

I can't wait to read this one.
They ran my first ever book review today, on Nicola Yoon’s “One of Our Kind,” a haunting novel about an all-Black utopia that asks if true safety in American society is even possible or worth it.

I still can't believe that my name & novella To the Woman in the Pink Hat are on this list of 2023 Shirley Jackson Awards nominees in the novella category. Still pinching myself.

Really nice review of my novella. I love how she describes my imagined prison alternative as "a dystopian version of an HBCU."
End of feed.
