The first concern of any action we take at this point in history is, "Does this help Trump and thus fascism?" Not "How can I feel better right now?" or "How can I reshape politics with my fantasy?" or "This is how I show everyone it's their fault, not mine." Anything else serves Trump.
People are asking us to take this gamble in exchange for their fantasy of how it works as we face the greatest threat to America's faulty representative democracy in our history. Trump has argued that he can essentially operate as a king in the Supreme Court, and the GOP majority agrees to degrees.
I used to think the Superman stories were unrealistic where he saves the Earth 1 billion times and then someone brings up a photo of him jaywalking, and everyone wants him to leave forever.
If they wanted to show how they were ready and willing to rally around the only realistic option, they’d be calling specifically for Harris and not their favorite Democratic governor. But Harris clearly wouldn’t calm their nerves, either.
