People will yell at Democrats for not doing things with the slimmest majorities then commit to never voting in order to change those majorities because "it doesn't matter"
They never want power, they just want to endlessly critique it
But then you see the MN DFL do lots of things with a one-vote senate majority... and suddenly the slimmest majority seems like not a great reason for not even trying to do symbolic, message-oriented things.
Altering the makeup of the supreme court is not symbolic or message oriented things
If voters put 60 Democrats in the Senate, then the politics of that change real quick vs 50 or 51
Democrats got a decent amount done in Biden's first 2 years with a tiny majority, but it certainly didn't help they they were limited by Manchin and Sinema.
