Senator Sherrod Brown, an Ohio Democrat facing a tough re-election race, said on a campaign call with Gloria Steinem this morning that his Republican opponent, Bernie Moreno, “thinks he knows better” than the majority of Ohioans who voted last year to protect abortion rights in the state.

Moreno, who has said he would vote for a 15-week ban, “wants to go to Washington and overrule them,” Brown said.

Katie May, an Ohio resident, is also on the call and described her experience with a missed miscarriage shortly after the Dobbs ruling. She says after learning that her fetus had died, she had to wait 12 days for another ultrasound to confirm it in order to get a D&C under Ohio's ban at the time.

"For 12 days, I just felt like a walking tomb," May said. "I was risking my health each and every one of those days." She says she wants more kids but is at high risk for future miscarriages, and in the case of a national abortion ban, she would avoid getting pregnant because it would be too risky.

It absolutely sickens me that there are fewer and fewer places in this country that are safe for people to live in…and it’s all due to a minority of people who have taken power any way they can.

"The Ohio GOP thinks you're stupid" has been my mantra since JD rode into town. LaRose & the rest have demonstrated that same attitude in each cycle since then.
