@dansavage.bsky.social I don’t know if you ever watched House MD, but the episode “Open and Shut” is one of your polyamory columns set to a medical drama. Although, they use the term “unicorn” completely wrong.

The K-7 Station was originally going to be a much larger, more complex facility, dwarfing the Enterprise . That changed when Roddenberry received several pre-built moon base concept models from Douglas Aircraft and asked Jefferies to use them in his design to save on costs.

Here is my chart detailing the original K-7 Space Station studio model from "Troubles With Tribbles". This is every detail I could find based on personal research. I'll be showing my work later this week, so stay tuned.

The Enterprise D is obviously way too big for its 1000 crew complement. But so is the TOS Enterprise. We got to see all 430 of them in the Rec Room in TMP. Well, here they are standing on the hull to let it really sink in.

30 years later and hearing Bull Shannon play Harvey Dent, Thomas Wayne, and the Bat Computer - sometimes all in the same episode - is still just plain weird.

The lost 3-foot TOS Enterprise model seems to have been found. It was in an eBay auction that was ended with zero bids less than a day after it was put up. The oddest part? A note for "12 to 16v AC or DC" on the bottom of the base. No electronics are known to be in this model.
