I don't hold out much hope for this Labour government being a progressive left-wing one, but the fact that Tony Blair started demanding they introduce compulsory id cards and they've pretty much told him to shut up encouraging at least.

The eyeroll I did when Labour had been back in power for literally 5 minutes and Blair had already popped up to resurrect his ID cards idea
