One of my favorite science fiction films is on TCM right now. The Day the Earth Stood Still. We are almost the same age. I remember the night I first saw it on Saturday Night at the Movies, the day of the rained-out total eclipse the day before my birthday in 1963.

You know what's crazy is you could easily write a historically compelling op-ed about how Trump should end his campaign because he's a convicted criminal who tried to overthrow the government and is only on the ballot/out of prison because of extremely corrupt judges he personally appointed

I appeared on the Enter the Nerdom podcast on Wednesday night to talk about Len Wein and various things about his career. If you want to check it out, it is episode 42. It was fun.

Delighted to celebrate Joe Haldeman’s 81st birthday last night in Pasadena with Joe, Gay, and Michael and Cindy Cassutt. I think I first saw Joe at a Disclave around 1979 and immediately went in search of The Forever War. (Photo of Joe Haldeman, Michael Cassutt, and Gay Haldeman at dinner.)

I am in Myrtle Beach/Ocean Isle for another family wedding & my sister & I hit up a few antique shops. She was the one who noticed the Trump swag in one show case & said under her breath “we are not buying from this dealer.” I did not see prices, but I do hope the artificial value tanked at 5PM.

Remembering my favorite curmudgeon and PITA, Harlan Ellison, on what would have been his 90th birthday. I miss hearing him answer the phone with “Yeah?” and the great messages he changed daily on his answering machine. He was high maintenance, but the person you wanted to have your back. Miss him.

I gather a young Roy Thomas made the key suggestion to call it a “signal,” though, and as such should be credited as co-creator.

Oh, look. Maybe there really is a god and she’s pissed. Repent, Donnie, your day of reconning is near.
According to Google Maps, Trump's Bedminster estate was only 3.8 miles away from the earthquake epicenter

Len Wein started collecting sketches from comics artists at a fairly early age. I haven’t quite figured out when he stopped, but it was definitely before we met. My son finally found the binder that’s been packed away since the 2009 fire. First piece in it is by Jack Kirby. I am so happy.

Heads up: If you have an Adobe account, for Acrobat or Photoshop or whatever: they've turned on the "we will pillage your work for AI" setting. Go to Adobe account website on desktop -> Account and Security -> Data and Privacy Settings -> Content Analysis. Turn it off.

Anyway I want to point out that the reason why Zuck is raising a very small number of extremely pampered cattle is almost certainly because he’s claiming his compound as a farm and taking advantage of extremely favorable tax breaks on personal land that will never feed as single person in Hawai’i.

My sister and I enjoyed the first three episodes of Echo last night at the Marvel event in Westwood. We were in the same row with my friends Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner and character creator David Mack. Joe Quesada was sitting behind us. There was a drum circle to open the red carpet.

Od to hear Froggy the Gremlin arguing Trump’s case in front of the Appeals Court. I hope they hand him his ass in a hand-basket.

As I have said in MANY tech meetings over the last 15 years: "This isn't a business model, it's a grift" AI dev is just the latest incarnation of this bullshit mindset.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. Happy Holidays to everyone else. Today marks 32 years since Len Wein and I married, the best of many happy Christmas memories.

You don't have to go back in time and kill baby Hitler to make the world a better place. What you can actually do is prevent the NEXT Hitler and you don't even have to smother any babies. Just show up and vote. And bring your friends. Want a better future? Be a better citizen.

Happy to report the weird hold up on having Currency of War go live has been resolved and now all 5 Imperials books are available as both ebooks and print on demand. I'm very proud of that series, and I hope readers will enjoy them too.

I am sad to learn that Marilyn Niven, wife of Larry and known as “Fuzzy” or “Fuzzy Pink” in science fiction circles, died on Sunday. She was a gracious hostess & often ran the Green Room at L.A. cons. She was great help the 2 times I produced the Nebula Awards. She will be missed.

LOVED the issues that had that team. Seemed Cullins didn't stay on it too long. I'd have preferred Chuck Patton taking over from him instead of Ross Andru. It'd have made a smoother transition, I think. Tom Grummett would have also been a decent choice.

A happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate, may you be among people who love you and avoid family drama.

There are three Len Wein DCCPs that I think of as a standout set: The Deadman team-up (at by Garcia-Lopez), the Demon team-up (art by Kubert) and this OMAC team-up. You could swap the Deadman with the Metal Men team-up (also Garcia-Lopez), but I think the Deadman one fits the set better.

I saw OMAC pop up in my feed a few times today & it made me think of one of my favorite DC Comics Presents issues. Everything a one-in-done superhero team-up featuring otherwise unrelated characters should be. Fun story by Len Wein and beautiful art by George Pérez and Pablo Marcos.

Got back from The Marvels a couple of hours ago. Thoroughly enjoyed it and the tags. Diversity and representation are so important and girls should be able to imagine themselves as superheroes, writers, and directors, too. Suck it, snot-nosed members of the he-man-women-haters-clubs.
