As Ted Cruz faces a potentially tight reelection fight, he's trying to rebrand himself as sensitive to those hit hardest by severe weather ahead of a potentially historic hurricane season.

Ted Cruz really does have a lot of gifts but I just feel like "literally everyone hates him including his dogs" is the kind of electoral handicap that sooner or later is bound to catch up with you
It is mind-boggling that a man who is so universally disliked by people who actually know him somehow managed to repeatedly win pretty big popularity contests.
I kinda feel like Trump is different? I hear enough stories about his personal charisma to get the sense that he really is charming one-on-one, however immune I might be to it. I don’t get that sense about Cruz.
I was speaking about Cruz, but it occurred to me that Trump should be added into that. I don't know about whether Trump is charming in person or not. I've disliked him since the 80s so his charms appear to be wasted on me.
Kind of?
I think people are charmed by Trump, in love with the image of Trump, or think he is a dangerous idiot who must be stopped.
But I don't think any one "likes" him. They go from sycophant to arch enemy, with no middle ground.
Cruz, probably has a lot fewer fans.
