what people dont get is that AI will solve the climate crisis. we will simply ask it to simulate us and our simulations will live long and happy lives while our flesh-selves fight in the water wars

Be the kind of person to fight in the water wars even when in a simulated paradise. I think the trick would be to study fundamental physics, and if it stops making sense, steal your neighbors hose.

nah, that just makes us break even. now if the AI were to simulate us living two long and happy lives while our flawed fleshy selves fight in the water wars, now we're talking. but wait what if there are three copies? or four? we can solve the climate crisis more by imagining more better futures
