Does it taste anything like the consistency of chicken, or is it just a name?

It’s weirdly close to chicken meat in both flavor and consistency! I like making vegan chicken casseroles and chicken noodle soup with it, both of which taste eerily accurate!

Mushrooms are much closer to animals than plants, genetically-speaking, and sometimes foraging really makes you Think about that 😂
