Yo but the writers, directors, and actors who actually crafted the show give a fuck.
Disney owns their shows shows but the affinity people feel is with authentic expressions from people with thoughts and passions like any of us.
ideally stuff like andor or magneto speechifying in the x-men 97 premiere eps would be a gateway drug to non-disney artists making far more radical work but instead it's the stuff people watch and they stop there AND for some reason get mad at you for telling them not to stop there
And ironically the people doing this are the same ones gushing about how, thanks to shows like Andor, other people will be introduced to left wing politics and grow their understanding, which they are not doing. "I've done enough growth, thank you, everyone should come to my side now."
Maybe if more people boycotted the latest Disney Star Wars Superhero Whatever and actually watched and discussed radical media instead we'd see major publishers actually decide to put money into it. Instead non-Disney artists make work more like Disney so you guys actually watch it.
not sure about this. people follow self-help authors on social media all the time, not to mention cultural critics with their own takes on things that inform and challenge and so on. i'm not sure if people go to social media to NOT be challenged. if anything some people seem to seek it out...?
Some do, I think, but I think most just want to have their existing ideas affirmed. ESPECIALLY if those ideas are "core to their identity". Others just want to start fights. Honestly, I'm mostly here for the jokes, myself.
