Introduced the two youngins to frozen veggie fishing as a way to cool off today, they're growing into very pretty little adult ratty boys. Both had to be shown a few times, but now they're fishing it all out and stashing peas, carrots, and green beans all over.

Once again, the two pieces I drew in 2020 when dealing with Election Anxiety feel...as topical as ever.

Apparently it’s #makeaterriblecomicday2024 and as a chronic over detail perfectionist, this was actual torture.

A small selection of notable photos from today. There were several school groups at the zoo today and I swear the animals always put on a show for it.

I'll post more photos later, but THIS one bird was the coolest part of my zoo day. One of the Sheik Kingfishers that @oregonzoo.bsky.social has in the aviary right now. Flew over us and showed off his GORGEOUS blue under-wing feathers, super special! Only 150 in the world!

Meanwhile, while we were gushing over the Kingfishers, this Greater Argus decided my crutch was offensive and that it needed to be bit. Thankfully he moved on once he gave it a thorough pecking.

I was correct.

Ed was making an absolute racket in the cage because his brother and favorite old man were both asleep, so I forced him to come hang out with me. He's got such perfect thick fur right now and I am gonna force him to let me snuggle it despite his wimpy protests.

Bomber's racing name was Time Bomb, had him as a kid and he was a great dog and I have wanted another greyhound ever since. The husky mix is a lost cause, lol. She's a good girl, she's just a moose and is easily wound up. I'm trying to work on it, but she's not mine, my mom spoils her, lol.

I'm sweaty and chugging my horrible V8 hydration concoction, but that chair went together super easy. And a certain supervisor gave it his approval before I even got the arms on.

Dipper has decided this morning that he needs to sit on my keyboard arm while I do my morning wake-up gaming. I had to kick him off about an 20 mins ago because he was making my hand go to sleep. Guess who's snuck back onto that exact same spot about 5 minutes ago.

The best part of the Rex gene in rats is they kinda molt all the time, and it leads to stuff like this, aka Ed's "She Said Whaaat?" face

Don't know if I showed Bluesky my Rat show acquisitions. Tiny Pizza Dime rat by Never-Mor (she's not on here, boo) and a mossy jar with small rodent skulls sourced from owl pellets from a local artist (who's name I have forgotten and card I now can't find, GAH).

(No rats for adoption, but two rescues will be there taking applications, and there will be plenty to squish)

Thancred is 2 and a half, and has spent his entire long life scaring the shit out of me by sleeping like a dead rat. We determined he fell asleep grooming, maybe got his fat ass knocked over by a baby. Woke up to give me smooches when I poked his belly, stretched, and went back to sleep.

My favorite Peace Rose is blooming, and I had to steal some blooms for my desk. This is an old fashioned breed of rose so they smell AMAZING. Also these blooms get HUGE, I've seen these get the size of softballs on this plant.

Nothing like walking into the living room and discovering an ancient comic sitting UNBAGGED on your coffee table. My dad: "I was gonna throw it away" Don't worry #DC fam, I've saved them, I'm gonna bag Omac, who is in surprisingly good condition!

Decided to make Chicken Stew cause it's a last bit of cold before the start of summer, and remembered what @ironspike.bsky.social said about rendering down the chicken skin and frying the veggies in it. Best. Decision. EVER.
