Art is only art when it's allowed to be a window into the human existence, which in and of itself is harmful and messy and unsafe.
I can warn you if I'm approaching themes that might be too much, but all in all, the onus is on the viewer, not the creator. If we scrubbed it clean, it wouldn't exist
I wish more people understood that they can't expect art to be comforting or safe. They can *want* that, but they can't demand it or expect it. Art, as a whole, never *should* be a safe space. You cannot tell the truth and be perfectly safe because the truth often isn't safe.
