Since I started as a practicing attorney 30 years ago, I have consistently told my clients: "Never put anything in an email that you would not want to see in 18 inch headlines on the front cover of the New York Post."

there's probably a follow-up about social media to similar effect that's due... but haven't heard anything nearly as catchy
