It appears that the solidarity shown by the non-fascist parties in France has led to the defeat, at least for today, of the fascists. Specifically, left & center coordinated to support the candidate most likely to defeat the fascists in hundreds of constituencies. There’s a lesson to be learned.

Europe faced the brunt of the last fascist empire, so they understand the horrors of allowing them back in charge. We don't or can't relate to that. At any rate, do we want Democrats to unite with RFK Jr.?

No, I want those who would vote for RFK Jr., Cornel West or Jill Stein to vote for the person with a chance to defeat Trump.

That thing where a whole bunch of candidates stepped back when it was clear they couldn't actually win so that France didn't actually fall to far-right fascism is the real lesson Stein, West and RFK Jr are undoubtedly going to completely miss here. Maybe their voters will get the point though.

For the most part, they do. The percentages of the vote that US left third parties get is a fraction of what smaller parties in UK & France got this week. What the US doesn’t have that they did is a large part of the center-right willing to vote center, center-left or left to stop far right.

For that, Dems have to give those three *something* (like they did in France, where candidates from the left and center withdrew to defeat the far right) and for them to get their voters to help defeat Trump. It's tough because the three are running to gain a say in governance that's not on offer.
