Hey friends, here’s a 4th of July in 2024 story for you:
We’re having folks over for burgers and beers and seeing what fireworks we can see in our new place. Because I walked in Pride on Sunday, I did the responsible thing and took a home test… (cont)
I got the faintest of positives…and then it went away. So I tested twice more, and again: the faintest of positives. Texts sent to my friends, and off to the urgent care with me, then!
They gave me a PCR, testing for covid and influenza A&B.
All came back NEGATIVE! (cont)
I went bc either a PCR would say I was fine, and if I wasn’t, I could get a scrip for paxlovid, because ooh boy, am I a walking pile of preexisting conditions and comorbidities.
Thankfully, I got the clean bill of health part and not the thing that will give me metalmouth. (cont)
Two more things of note:
1) A friend of mine asked if we used FlowFlex tests, which we had. (Partner tested as well, negative from the jump.) She said that she’d heard a lot of false positives being reported from that brand. (cont)
2) I’ve gotten variations on “Glad it’s not covid, sorry you’re feeling poorly!”
…I wasn’t feeling poorly. I feel fine, but I *did* walk in Pride with ~300,000 of my new neighbors. Like hell I was inviting people into my home without sticking a swab up my nose! (cont)
Anyway, I’m fine, no covid, maybe don’t buy FlowFlex if you can avoid it, and TEST AS A PREVENTATIVE MEASURE PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
DO IT FOR GRITTY BECAUSE AMERICA DOESN’T DESERVE IT THIS YEAR.
