“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.
This!! Start with “they want to end no fault divorce, sell national parks, and ban porn” end with tax structure.

No, you drove to the weed store mostly just for this view on the way there!

"Russia should leave Ukraine alone" and "Israel should leave Palestine alone" are stances you don't often see together, and that's very weird to me. But hey, 2024 is a weird place.
No but for real, I often think about the optics of shit I say and how their reception would shift if I had ✡️🏳️‍🌈🇺🇦🇸🇩 in my name or bio somewhere. But then I'm also baffled by people who are pro-Palestinian but think Russia taking Ukraine is totally fine.

I am once again asking Christians in government to understand Christ's teachings as well as I do.

Whomp, there it is.
If you're worried about brevity in your writing, don't. It took Project 2025 nine hundred pages to say fourteen words.

Shoutout to Independence Day (1996) for having the absolute gentlest and not even really played for a laugh gay joke of the decade.

Watching Independence Day for the first time in years. OMG, the Fruitopia vending machine in David’s office, I CAN’T. 😂😂😂

Hey friends, here’s a 4th of July in 2024 story for you: We’re having folks over for burgers and beers and seeing what fireworks we can see in our new place. Because I walked in Pride on Sunday, I did the responsible thing and took a home test… (cont)

I'm always torn in the "just leave!" discussion, because I think if a person feels anxious enough to leave, that's not frivolous or a whim. But leaving includes the privilege of having somewhere to go. It includes a defecit of reasons to stay.
Today is as fraught for me as a lot of people, but man. I have the passports and naturalization papers for my grandparents, and the passport for my great-zayde. Knowing what they all went through to move here, that stuff hits. ESPECIALLY since I just left Texas at the mere *whiff* of similar.

just watched 74 people speaking at least a dozen different languages become american citizens in a ceremony at monticello, where the speakers were themselves children of immigrants. inspiring stuff and a vivid illustration of what reactionaries want to snuff out

Imagine for one second if the NYT marshaled its massive influence towards voter registration, towards supporting voting rights groups, towards encouraging people to vote and fighting people who try to stop people from voting. Imagine if the NYT actually championed participatory democracy.

I want it not to be true, but I also think discounting it because of the team behind the podcast is the worst kind of “we only believe people when we like them or dislike the accused.” Anyway, buckle up kids. This one’s going to be rough.
Did he do the things he’s accused of? Less credibly than caught-on-photo Franken, but still credible. Are the people supporting those who came forward on the level? At least as on the level as the people who supported Franken’s accuser. TL;DR: “Trust, but verify” means it’s worth looking into.

A hot take no one wants from a person of little consequence: The stuff with Gaiman feels like what happened with another liberal Minnesotan of note: Al Franken.

I look forward to the book he writes in his “retirement.” (This is the kind of man who will never retire. If he writes this book, it will be while he’s juggling twelve other chainsaws.)

Paramount/Viacom is absolutely still on my shit list, but I just discovered Comedy Central’s Roast of William Shatner is on Paramount+. I’m sure some of it has aged REAL BAD, but when I tell you it is the ONE thing on the DVR I was sad to lose when we cut the cord…

I joke on here, often at democrat's expense, and I don't see a point in having any mercy about it when I do it. Please understand that I'm not joking when I say the incumbency advantage is absolutely a real thing, and it's impossible at this point to tell if there's a dem worth giving it up for.
The most honest "take" that anyone can write now is: "I have no idea what Democrats should do."

Ken Paxton losing is one of my favorite things.
Just about everything this corrupt asshole does is intolerable, but, even for him, this was pretty fucking low: A judge blocked Texas’s attempt to shutter a decades-old migrant shelter network in a pair of rulings Tuesday, calling Ken Paxton’s actions “intolerable.” wapo.st/3W4psaR

It’s like people already forgot what Stacey Abrams (+ her org, and other orgs) managed to accomplish in 2020. Grassroots efforts by real majorities in real places where real people live! Writing off whole states as “lost causes” is part of the ingrained apathy that got us in this mess.
With it being an election year, it's time for everyone's reminder that substantial portions of people in conservative ruled states are not conservative-- or are even progressive-- and writing them off is a very very bad idea for more reasons than is countable.

Donald Trump called Biden a manchurian candidate and said Israel should "finish the job" and nobody is calling for him to step down and it's making me feel fucking crazy. It's people are saying this shit at this point just because they *can* influence the democratic party.
