Imagine for one second if the NYT marshaled its massive influence towards voter registration, towards supporting voting rights groups, towards encouraging people to vote and fighting people who try to stop people from voting. Imagine if the NYT actually championed participatory democracy.

I want it not to be true, but I also think discounting it because of the team behind the podcast is the worst kind of “we only believe people when we like them or dislike the accused.” Anyway, buckle up kids. This one’s going to be rough.

Did he do the things he’s accused of? Less credibly than caught-on-photo Franken, but still credible. Are the people supporting those who came forward on the level? At least as on the level as the people who supported Franken’s accuser. TL;DR: “Trust, but verify” means it’s worth looking into.

A hot take no one wants from a person of little consequence: The stuff with Gaiman feels like what happened with another liberal Minnesotan of note: Al Franken.

I look forward to the book he writes in his “retirement.” (This is the kind of man who will never retire. If he writes this book, it will be while he’s juggling twelve other chainsaws.)

It’s like people already forgot what Stacey Abrams (+ her org, and other orgs) managed to accomplish in 2020. Grassroots efforts by real majorities in real places where real people live! Writing off whole states as “lost causes” is part of the ingrained apathy that got us in this mess.

With it being an election year, it's time for everyone's reminder that substantial portions of people in conservative ruled states are not conservative-- or are even progressive-- and writing them off is a very very bad idea for more reasons than is countable.
