Remember that the law is, and always has been, a tool. It can be used for good and ill, and much of the time it may be best not to putz with its settings too much if you're trying to get a standardized output
But it is a tool, and if someone is using that tool to kill you, do not lay down and die
The law is also a story we tell ourselves about how the world ought to work. Between Gaza and SCOTUS, many are coming to see that story as a fairy tale.
