Looks like bankruptcy court has established the ceiling price for Fisker Oceans at $14,000, right in line with my prediction that it wouldn't exceed the teens. Meanwhile the no reserve Bring A Trailer auction has hit $5,000. The base MSRP for these cars was supposed to be $38,999.
very curious to find out what people will pay for a low-mileage EV from a bankrupt startup! current bid is a saucy $2,000 and considering you can get a used Tesla or Polestar from Hertz in the 20s I'm guessing this Fisker never leaves the teens

Looks like a leasing company agreed to buy brand new perfect condition cars for $16,500, previously-titled examples for $3,200, and damaged vehicles for $2,500. Again, the new price range for these ran from $39,000 to about $70,000. Hope you didn't buy one new! insideevs.com/news/725340/...

Startups are so good and necessary for EV adoption! I'm sure that buying a new car for $70k and within less than a year having it lose all its value along with the ability to get service and spare parts isn't going to turn anyone off EVs. Nope, this was all so good for the planet, for sure.

If I bought a new one I would have bought a second, discounted one as a source for spare parts.

But maybe Henrik Fisker's *next* startup will be successful. Maybe he'll even call it Fisker again.

On the same day (May 9th) most Norwegian insurance companies decided to stop offering comprehensive insurance on Fisker Oceans, I captured these two guys contemplating their financial dispositions at a local mall. Poor bastards

..and just now the bankruptcy of the Norwegian Fisker Norway was announced after ~400 cars sold. The last months with a huge disclaimer attached that due to the risk of bankruptcy they might not be able to honor the consumer protection rights granted to all private consumers by law

That deal is amazing. They are getting all the source code, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are hiring some of the ex-employees

I was in at 4 but I'm out at 5 lol
Avatar
sounds about right, you can get a decent car for 5 but under that you're pretty much signing up for some shit no matter what
Avatar
How will they ever service it or get spares? 🤷‍♂️
Avatar
this is precisely why they are so cheap!

Fortunately they still all have round wheels ( for now) 😎

$14,000 seems like quite a lot for a car that may be unserviceable. Would you be able to get insurance for it?
Avatar
I wouldn't bet on it! Like I said, that is the absolute ceiling price. I wouldn't even consider spending more than $5k at the absolute most on one of these.

I think you have to assume that as soon as anything goes wrong with it, it's a write-off. Probably no parts available, and very few people willing to do work on them. Will you get a year of service out of it? Probably. So, possibly worth $5,000, max.

This would be a bulk sale to a leasing company planning to use them for Uber/lyft operations. So my guess is their plan is to run them into the ground, rebuilding/fixing them with parts from some damaged ones in the sale/inoperative ones that occur as time marches on. insideevs.com/news/725340/...

That actually totally makes sense. And they are quite nice cars! So, potentially a good use.
