Prentice Penny’s Onyx Pilot “Not Cops” Not Moving Forward Curious … 4 years ago I wrote a column (link in next post) that asked: What if networks greenlit shows that tried to explore police abolition? We haven’t seen one (1) yet Via Deadline

There’s as much, if not more, copaganda than ever (Dick Wolf presides over an empire on the TV side; but it’s the fuel behind even the two big feel-good nostalgia plays on the movie side with “Bad Boys” & “Beverly Hills Cop”) It’s really everywhere www.chicagotribune.com/2020/06/03/c...

What is interesting, in a discussion I had had recently goes back to media consumption and age and older folks not streaming versus younger folks choosing more options… copaganda tracks with that traditional consumption?

Interestingly a lot of network cop shows are streamed on the network apps. But also big performers as library content on Netflix. I think it’s less that people crave copaganda but that the shows have 100+ episodes and offer stand-alone storytelling that’s a welcome break from serialized shows

Good points, all Then there’s the British cop series like Happy Valley, Broadchurch, and such, short series, often taken and consumed like a book, each, 100+ episodes or short series, the volume to the genre…

I generally like the British ones better because they’re usually not brandishing guns!

They’re more about the detective work far more than the “taking down perps” with “weaponry”

And I refuse to watch any of it anymore.

That would be taking a risk and networks don’t do that.
