I interviewed all over the Midwest for jobs after law school. Columbus was the only city that didn’t have a chip on its shoulder about new professionals moving in. It seemed like most other young professionals had moved here, too. I was welcomed even though I moved here from Ann Freakin’ Arbor.

Interesting. I don’t understand cities having a chip on their shoulders. Maybe that’s part of why Columbus is growing and Akron is not.

*Everyplace* else I got a question at an interview that came across as variance on, “If you weren’t born and raised here, why would you ever want to move and work here?”

I was at a Columbus zoning training this morning, and pretty much all of Ohio’s population growth from 2010-2020 was from Franklin County, and most of that was Columbus itself. The new Columbus-ites are new Americans and people from other Ohio cities. (I’ll post some of the slides once I get them.)
