i haven't been photographing myself masking in public, though i do use masks! but i did take a picture last year of myself in my work safety gear. i've so far managed to avoid both covid and having any shards of glass fly into my mouth
one of the silver linings of covid is i have good fitting masks to use for both facial protection and particulates :) i just leave one near the safety goggles so i don't forget
if you've seen my kiln pictures from after firing you've seen that i use kiln paper. it turns to horrible dust after you fire with it and you have to wear a mask to protect yourself from it when you dust off the shelves
Kilns are generally just big empty spaces and you just make a stack of stuff using free standing supports and shelves. It's all very precarious and janky feeling.
I think it's basically an alumina powder with a binder to make sheets? High enough melt point and difference in chemistry that it doesn't bond/sinter the way silicates and glass will?
until recently i worked in a place that frequently dealt with construction-ish dusts of all kinds, and i wish my coworkers had maybe noticed i never had an issue on account of masking anyway, instead of coughing on concrete dust and other nastiness
