I have 2 teen drivers. They are learning to responsibly operate heavy machinery in a space shared with children, elders, pets. They should not be focused on the 'joy of driving'. They can go base jumping if they want excitement.

My local MP is promoting this stuff with two weird ideas. One is that lower speed limits hurt people's feelings. So we set speed limits on the vibe now? The other one is that the baseline of injury accidents in urban areas is so low it hardly matters if the % improvements look good......

... In central Christchurch the 30km/hr zone in the CBD *alone* has saved at least 112 injury accidents over the last 8 years. Whether you consider that "worthwhile" is a matter how much you can imagine you or your family being one of them.

The important thing is that the courier vans shouldn't have to slow down That children are at risk simply to allow courier companies to demand drivers make more deliveries than is realistically possible is not important apparently
