Sorry but I’m ridiculously pleased w this DIY effort. If you ride a bike while wearing skirts/dresses & prefer not to flash everyone on windy days, this🧵might be an easy option for you! Bike skirt clips are not easy to find in AoNZ so this is my hack. Hat tip to @unlikelyjenn.bsky.social! 🚲🇳🇿 🧵🇳🇿
Woop woop! Just happened to have one plastic buckle connector thingy. Stoked with this 😁

I wrote a thing 😊 It's great to share how Dunedin and Invercargill have transformed their city centres into walkable, welcoming spaces for everyone. These initiatives hopefully help inspire other cities around Aotearoa to do the same.

My submission on Simeon's Stupidity. I really cannot stress how much I abhor a person with the ability to make the world a little safer choosing not to do so and then smirks about it. Unfortunately, he probably knows the audience he's pandering to very well.

This submission on Simeon Brown's draft speed rule – by a well-informed civilian who's really done her homework – reads like a thriller. It teases out the terrible thinking behind the proposal, and what it says about the system we're stuck in. A must-read. www.greaterauckland.org.nz/wp-content/u...

Very cool tool here to help you express yourself on the proposed blanket speed limit increases. (Yep, there are mixed opinions on the use of LLMs for consultations. But the Ministry of Transport says: “We may use an AI tool to help us analyse submissions” – so all’s fair in love and Robot Wars? 🤖✊)
Speed reductions have saved 80 lives in Akld. Undoing them will kill / badly injure 55 over this govts term – in Akld alone. Take 3min to put the brakes on the #SpeedBill, via changegear.nz/speedlimiter. Pls submit today & share so others can too, before closing Thurs night.

Whatever happens in politics, it's not going to stop me from helping my neighbors, friends, and family. And in turn getting helped when I need it. If you're feeling hopeless I strongly urge getting more *involved* in your community, whatever that looks like (online or offline)! We have each other.

The Wiles v University of Auckland judgement is out. Wiles was successful on the key issues. In particular, the Court finds that her commentary *was* part of her job and that the University's H&S response was "problematic" www.employmentcourt.govt.nz/assets/Docum...

"Seatbelts, air bags and other safety features protect us when we travel in cars. When we’re *not* in cars, we rely on a safe street environment to prevent and mitigate crashes. Snatching away safe speed limits is as unthinkable as taking away our seatbelts." A great piece by Christina Robertson.

"Butt out, Wellington" (said the Mayor of Auckland, to the Minister for Auckland, who lives in Auckland). Also iconic: the moment when Councillor Alf Filipaina asked, “What is the problem the Government is trying to fix?” and basically the entire room shrugged. 🤷‍♀️ www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/auckland-...
In great news: heroic scenes at Auckland Council, with a near-unanimous pushback against this indefensible government overreach on local streets. 🙌 Including a strengthened response on safe speeds around schools (carried by a casting vote!). Very very grateful for the integrity on display today. 🙏🥰
