A lot of people have been talking about 1968 lately. It was a deeply weird & horrifying year. The Tet offensive; 1st police killing of US campus protestors; MLK & Bobby assassinated; widespread violence. A thing that gave 9 year old me hope was in Dec. when we got a new view of the home we share.
Ours was adopted at 2ish from a shelter who told us someone found her near the dumpster at a local grocery store. She's arranged the same brilliant deal for herself now.
I called it on the day the pick was announced- ironically on January 6. I remember trying to be optimistic that the events I watched that day would spur Garland to be more aggressive.
Still have one even though I don't have a turntable anymore. Not sure which cereal box it was on. We not only grabbed the toy first, we cut out the record and put the bag in what was left of the box. We weren't good at delayed gratification.
