I think it would have been an achievable goal, but would have required *significantly* better humanitarian planning and execution, which proved to be primarily an afterthought (at best).
that seems basically correct; at this point I think you need a new cabinet, a willingness to conduct war very differently, and the time and effort to figure out how and implement changes to that end.
You do see it everyday. Obviously you are not well familiar with Iranian expats who fled Iran after the revolution. I stood with them shoulder to shoulder in multiple protest.
