Was just asked in an interview what one piece of advice I have for new writers.
Enjoy the act of writing.
If you can enjoy the process--the one thing you can control--then you'll be more resilient in the face of the things you can't control. And in this business, you can't control most of it.
For me, writing isn't fun. Rather, it is enormously satisfying. (First encountered this idea from Cliff Stoll in his book about education and the effort to make learning "fun".)
