I like to lift up Coretta Scott King on this day. It's mainly because of her that this day exists. She was a force. She was an activist before she married King. It was her anti-war commitment that pushed him to take a public stance against Vietnam. She was extraordinary in her own right.
i dont remember exactly somewhere between 2000-2003 but one of the few actually good high school field trips they took us to see her speak in illinois, i wish that i could remember it more clearly that i could re-examine it now with newer eyes
