Brings a tear every time. When I consider that almost the entire cast were IRL refugees from Nazi tyranny, it brings a few more.

Lesson to Americans saying it's already all over unless Biden resigns. All week we've been hearing the fascists were going to win the French election. But here we go - the Left Alliance has won a huge upset. AND Macron's centrists... came in second. The fascists were defeated. Polls, man.

because their former strategy was a losing strategy... So maybe it could be a good idea for Biden and the Democratic Party to change their strategy which seems to be a losing strategy before it is too late... Just a suggestion 🙂...

Well, the problem is that it is a radical suggestion, and every time an incumbent who could have run was replaced in a completive election, the replacement lost. Incumbency is a real advantage. Seems like a bad idea to waste in a idea that has never won.

I suppose I would argue Democrats do what Republicans did. Trump was convicted of 34 felonies. Now *that* is unprecedented. And the GOP rallied around him and... Trump has thus remained competitive in the election. Democrats should do likewise, for the same result, not fracture the party and LOSE.
Avatar
The difference is that fascists are fanatics, they vote for racism without understanding anything else... If Trump grew a moustache like Hitler and was making the nazi salute, they would still vote for him... but democrats are more selective and pay attention to what their candidate say...

I understand that view, but still, it seems like terrible politics to deliberately fracture the party into pieces - groups supporting Harris, others for Whitmer, others for Newsom, etc, then a painful brokered convention, rather than unify & rally. What did Napoléon say? Divide and conquer?

Well, if they finally win (let's wait for the real results tomorrow morning, knowing that in the big cities where the fascists are the weaker, voting only ends at 20 and they don't have the real results yet), it will be because the Left completely changed their strategy after the last election...
Avatar
Yes they did. And I'm really impressed with a lot of politicians withdrawing to help consolidate voting. Truly an impressive job. Macron's centrists came in second, so it was a broad effort to defeat the fascists. We can do it here, too.

That's not the analysis I heard about France. And there was a real strategy available to coordinate their defeat.

Right now, the leaders of the Biden-Must-Go narrative still say the Right is poised to win. So I guess it is good you didn't hear the analysis I've been hearing all week (and, again, still on the NYT homepage). Yes, there was a way to win, but even France24 is stunned the Left Alliance crushed it.

BLAST. The NY Times changed the headline as soon as I posted that screenshot. Still Negative Nancy's....
