New from me: Despite what they claim, Trump and his allies haven't been abused by the criminal justice system. They've actually been given extraordinarily preferential treatment.

It's infuriating to think you could probably go to any point in Trump's life since he attained legal adulthood and with just a little scrutiny catch him in some criminality.
My question, which I guess is sort of unanswerable, is was this the right thing to do? E.g., would it have been worse for Merchan to impose summary contempt on Trump for the assorted nonsense? I’m not even sure how to weigh it
Yeah, I don't know the answer. I'm not criticizing Merchan. He's in an incredibly difficult situation. I'm just criticizing the preposterous idea that he has been *unfair* to Trump.
Oh agree 100%. I’ve been following it (occasionally non-consensually when I have court dates coinciding with the trial) and am so on board with this piece’s conclusion I don’t have much to contribute lol
That's 100% why those people you're talking about are now supporting Trump. If even a former President billionaire can get railroaded by lawfare and persecution, how unfair is the legal system to the poor? How about them apples?
Yes, but by claiming victimhood, the mainstream media starts scraping the bottom of the barrel to be sympathetic to them. Eventually, the only narrative that carries is the one that Trump doles out.
This is the effect they seek, and are getting it.
