It boggles my mind how Seattle had more than their share of marquee, top-20 players. Griffey, the Big Unit and Edgar Martinez, and yet the Mariners nevertheless played .472 ball for the decade, only even making the playoffs twice.

They had some pretty bad pitching during this era outside of Johnson, especially in the bullpen. It was their desperation to always having to find relief help that led to the infamous Heathcliff Slocumb trade.
