X-Men 135 (July 1980) cover by John Byrne and Terry Austin. Phoenix becomes Dark Phoenix, flies into space, and devours a star thus murdering billions of aliens! Villainous! I picked up this copy at the YMCA Of The Rockies gift shop on a band trip my Senior year of high school.
I didn’t get this till a few years later in a box at a yard sale but it started my infatuation with Phoenix (light and dark) and with Byrne and the X-Men. 8.5/10 cover art for me. Hot AF.
