The ghost pipe (Monotropa uniflora) on our front walkway has grown significantly and looks very ethereally beautiful. I think that a host fungi (something in the Russulales) is about 1 foot away!

This beautiful furrow orbweaver (Larinioides cornutus) lives on the side of our house but hides in a corner or crevice during the day. She spins a new web every night.
This summer has been a big bug year & corresponding large numbers of furrow orbweavers have appeared as well.
I’ve cataloged all my laserdisc movies. This is the stack of “washouts” I won’t be keeping. Going to try and sell them (locally I hope) as a batch. Unless I find a collector who wants them all and is willing to pay shipping!

Last night I completed a FB marketplace deal (it didn’t go smoothly but let’s just get to the juicy deets) & got a #laserdisc player & a milk crate of karaoke discs for $200. I’ve wondered about LD karaoke for years so I am eager to look at it this weekend.

Around 3:15AM Pearl woke me up & wanted a trip out which we did. Before going out she saw this Reddish-brown stag beetle (Lucanus capreolus) on the patio which I had to segregate from her to save its life. After, I took a few quick shots of this beautiful 2+” specimen.

A Japanese friend sent me his old copy of #Rodan on #laserdisc. I'd never seen the film before but the of course the Japanese disc had no English subtitles.
While not an ideal solution I'm surprised at how well InteractiveCoconut's Subtitle Viewer app on an Android tablet in front of the TV worked!
Cataloging more #laserdisc titles.

Last night this specimen of a northern green frog (Lithobates clamitans melanota is my best guess) was spotted by Pearl & almost croaked their last.
It is *not* normal to find frogs in our yard but we have had a lot of humidity & enough moisture lately I’m unsurprised.

Ok look I could change my mind tomorrow but considering how long ago it was and how i still remember it being a punch in the gut I’ll go with S5E16 “The Body” from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, from 2001.
88F/31C and 75% humidity and she’s like “I shall pick the hottest part of the yard and make you wait whilst I roll around” and yes she has to stay on leash now since ARVC diagnosis. For her, I roasted.

I entered a bunch of laserdiscs into my account catalog on lddb.com & I’m having flashbacks. It’s weird to be looking at these discs to see if they are Pan & Scan (P&S) or Letterbox/OAR. I’m planning on getting rid of any P&S LD’s once I’m done cataloging.
