it's not embarrassing. warren just didn't want to deal. clearly the error was in tip-toeing around the issue in the hope that she might.
he offered her both vp and a secretaryship at once. what more can you even do?
it was obvious he was going to run. they clearly should have come to some kind of formal agreement to drop out and endorse based on polling or delegates within a certain timeframe, but she knew he was going to run again when she announced, and vice-versa.
in 2016 on the other hand, sanders only announced after a draft warren movement failed to sway her, but after his surprisingly strong go of it there, he definitely had the priority to run again (if that can be said to mean anything).
If he’s spent the years since he’d lost the last primary fight shoring up support and building bridges, then his running again would have made sense. Instead he chose Brihana Joy Gray and Sirota as surrogates and made no attempt to gather in Warren’s supporters once she dropped out.
there's not, but given that he tried to run a messaging campaign and then suddenly found he has more appeal than expected and was running to win, it makes sense he would try again with a plan to win from the jump.
and it didn't work, but he did far better than warren, and came closer to victory than he did in 2016, so you have to admit this was a reasonable call.
Absolutely, as long as the goal was to get himself elected. Not so much if the goal was to consolidate progressive power. I think that’s where we fall short, moderate Dems are willing to shelve their egos in order to win.
