I work in the YIMBY movement full time, routinely talk to YIMBY groups all over the country, spoke to the author of this article at length, and can confirm that “the private market will fix everything” is a straw man.
pretty sure you could pass "charge for parking permits and spend all the revenue on new public housing" with like a 90% majority among the Boston YIMBYs I know, and would be shot dead for proposing it in front of any neighborhood association
