Anybody who has run an organization that relies upon largess from people with money knows that this - while staggeringly self-absorbed and entitled - is actually how orgs treat donors. (And really, this is one reason why "charitable orgs get pushed out by government services" is hogwash)

just watched 74 people speaking at least a dozen different languages become american citizens in a ceremony at monticello, where the speakers were themselves children of immigrants. inspiring stuff and a vivid illustration of what reactionaries want to snuff out

Anyway, billionaires spend a lot of money on depriving their opponents of the right or will to vote, and they aren't opening their wallet out of the kindness of their hearts. It's because it does, when all is said and done, matter quite a lot

This 4th of July, take a little time to think about how the Left can try to reclaim patriotism from conservatives. Seems like the story of a country that cast off a king and fought a civil war to free the slaves is fertile ground given our present moment.

Pointing again at my US Blue State Challenge. If you live in a "blue state", pick the red state you hate the most and the issue you care about the most and find a group in that state working on that issue and support them.

In this snapshot of time, there's one headline on the home page of cnn.com about Presidential immunity ("Opinion: Trump's immunity has a limit. Here's where he'll find that out.". One about overturning Chevron, although they don't mention it by name. There are 12 stories about Biden dropping out.

When an article says "some scientists think" then remember this: I, a scientist, once thought I could fit a whole orange in my mouth. I could, it turns out, get it in there, but I hadn't given sufficient thought to the reverse operation.

The law must protect but not bind a favored in-group, and bind but not protect a disfavored out-group. Therefore Title IX does not apply as interpreted by the Administration for only these select schools, because they have enrolled or employ members of the favored in-group. Choose Your Own Law!
NEWS: Judge John Broomes, a Trump appointee in Kansas, today blocked the Biden admin Title IX rule as to Alaska, Kansas, Utah, & Wyoming — but also any school nationwide where Young America's Foundation members or the kids of Moms for Liberty go. Opinion: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The real question, dead serious not being a smartass, is what the fuck is Nate Cohn's obsession with people who were eligible but didn't bother to vote and slapping the label "likely voter" on them for no apparent reason?

I honestly don't give a shit if you are a communist, a liberal, or a Never Trumper Republican by brand, if all you are spending your time doing is arguing with the other two groups you're not useful at this moment and everyone should just block you and move on.

This and: It's broadly true that the American public supports policies that don't come to pass and the main reason why is that a whole shitload of them don't vote.
Look, I know, there is a lot of cringey shit lib posting out there, but the real reason folks are so adamant about the importance of your vote is that it is the last nonviolent way to prevent a fascist takeover of the federal government. If you don’t vote, you will not like the next steps.
