Thinking about how the guys at FromSoftware and the Souls Office have a lore bible that will never ever come to light. That their stories probably do have a kinda correct and mostly consistent order of events and lore but when they give it to you in the games they just give the most enigmatic bits.
Alternatively, I like to think the Dark Souls story started out as "human-shaped beef jerky is trying to light a fire" and once the brutal level design was finished, they retrofitted the justification for those fuckers in Anor Londo with gigantic bows by writing in a war against the dragons.
