No silver bullets: - 4Rs of fertilizers (right source, rate, time, place)/precision ag - Nitrification inhibitors/controlled-release fertilizers - Breeding nitrification inhibition into crops - Cover crops to trap N - RE powering N fertilizer manufacture - Improve soil/water mgt where yields are low

What you probably *didn't* know, is that we still have a really poor understanding of HOW or WHY crop yields decline in the presence of weeds. I know what you're thinking - The weeds use resources needed by the crop, so the crop 'starves'. Simple. BUT THAT'S NOT IT!
