Clear Lake Clouded by Algaeearthobservatory.nasa.gov The nutrient-loaded Northern California lake turned green with algal growth in spring 2024.

I've been there! We spent a week in the state park with our canoe (motorboat folks slept in til mid-day). The mountain S of center is volcanic obsidian; the water gets bathtub warm in summer to grow all those greens the fish love, with lots of grebes, a colony of white pelicans, osprey & eagles.

Wow! Was the algae difficult to canoe through?
