There were things I liked about this one—the best friend is very funny, the dynamic between the heroine and her daughter, and between her and her grandparents—but I'm coming to wonder if I'm just not that into contemporaries when it comes to romance. bookshop.org/p/books/the-... #BookThoughts 📚💙

If that sentence is fully comprehensible to you, I think it’s really important to have both people in your life who do understand it and people who don’t. The former so you know you’re not alone, the latter so you understand that your internet bubble is, indeed, a bubble.
I saw a TikTok saying “hawk tuah girl milkshake ducked on X” is hypothetically a sentence that could be uttered and have meaning. I sent it to several friends and it’s been real enlightening to see which friends and how many understood it. (Pls note: afaik hawk tuah girl hasn’t milkshake ducked.)

This is so niche and I love it so much
when someone says "uh" six times in a row on a podcast it looks like a rock skipping across a pond

This book is set in San Diego and the characters keep going to or talking about places I know, and it is so distracting. Is this how New Yorkers feel all the time?

It finally happened. My phone autocorrected “duck” to “fuck.”

Just FYI, you can sing the phrase “Don’t you fucking tell me what to do” to the tune of Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.”

This was a really nice recipe. I had to sub cod for the halibut, and I couldn’t find Calabrian chilis so I subbed piquillo peppers. So, somewhat different and less spicy, but still very nice. justinesnacks.com/breaded-hali...

It's been 6 years since I saw that lemon rolling down the hill, which happened on the 20th anniversary of my grandfather's death, and I still kind of can't get over the coincidence.

It's not so much that I'm despairing as a recognition that neither the world nor any person really needs my analysis or opinion on world events, and all a post of mine can really do is disappear into the ether, start an argument, or maybe make one or two people nod, if they already agree with me.
I keep having all these thoughts about our current political situation and then almost posting them, and then thinking "You know what, what is the fucking point." Is this... is this growth?

It’s interesting to be reading this series just after the first book of the Kithamar trilogy. They’re not the same but I feel like they’re interested in some of the same things. Maybe? Anyways, I’m looking forward to seeing how this series concludes. bookshop.org/p/books/shor... #BookThoughts 📚📚

I feel like I hear a lot of parents of teens say something like "This is the thing that nobody told us, how hard this part is." Which, yes, it is very difficult. But also I kind of feel like that is the main thing that parents of teens talk about. Like, I've been hearing it since I was a teen myself
